To unlock Find mode in Today's Picross, play Today's Picross each day for seven consecutive days.

To unlock Not X mode in Today's Picross, play Today's Picross each day for three consecutive days.

Use the following tricks when solving a puzzle with a 10x10 grid:

-If a column or row has a "10", you can automatically fill in the entire column or row.

-If a column or row has a "9", you can automatically fill in the center eight blocks of that column or row.

-If a column or row has a "8", you can automatically fill in the center six blocks of that column or row.

-If a column or row has a "7", you can automatically fill in the center four blocks of that column or row.

-If a column or row has a "6", you can automatically fill in the center two blocks of that column or row.

Effectively using X-marks to fill in the grid of a Picross puzzle is just as important in solving the puzzle as filling out solid blocks. When you run out of solid blocks that you can logically place in the grid, look for grid squares that cannot possibly have a solid block and fill those grid squares with Xs. After working in your Xs, you can go over the puzzle again to find the logical placement for more solid blocks.
