Free bookcase skills

To learn bookcase skills for free, buy a bookcase and have your Sim begin to study. Interrupt your Sim so that they place the book on the ground; then sell the bookcase. You can use the book thats on the ground to do everything the bookcase can do.

Disable aging

To disable aging, go to "Game Options" > "Options" and uncheck the box next to "Aging".

Twins/Triplets

To increase the chance of having twins or triplets, have one or both parents have the lifetime reward of Fertility Treatment.

Making friends

To easily make friends, get your guitar skill to 5/10. Then, go to the park and select "Play For Tips". People who watch you will become your friends. The higher your guitar skill, the faster they will become friends with you.

Pizza Pizza

To get unlimited pizza, have a Sim call for Pizza, and when the delivery man arrives, do not accept the pizza. The pizza will never get stale. Continue to do this and the delivery man will stack the pizzas on top of one another.

Changing your name

If you don't like the name of your sim, you can change the name by going to map view and clicking on City Hall, then clicking the option 'Change Name'. You can only change your name from 12:00pm and 6:00pm.

Money saving hint

Despite how many times you use an object, you can get all your money back if you sell it in the same day. If your Sim is poor and needs body points or something else, purchase a body machine and keep selling it back to get a refund of all your money.

Getting rid of dirty dishes

Drag an empty plate into a Sim's inventory, then drag it to sell. You won't earn any money, but if your Sim does not have a dish washer, it is fast and efficient.

Building a basement

On a new lot, put down staircases to lower the terrain and go to the bottom of the first one. Miss out one tile and put down another staircase, then repeat this once more and you should have three staircases. Delete the staircases and use the "Level Terrain" tool to level the terrain from the lowest tile. Set it as large or small as desired. Using the "Straight Line Wall" tool, build walls around this hole so that there are walls pressed up against hills. Build the room above so that it covers the entire basement. Cover around the house with the "Foundation" tool; all the slopes should be covered up. Place one tile in the top floor then create a staircase leading down to the basement. Make two or more foundation blocks at the front of the house, and place a staircase leading up them.

Cheat Codes

To bring up the console window, press CTRL + SHIFT + C during gameplay. Activate the following cheats by typing the corresponding codes and the pressing ENTER. Note: In WINDOWS Vista, if the console window isn't coming up, try pressing CTRL + WINDOWS + SHIFT + C:

NOTE 1: This code allows additional cheat codes to be used and unlocks various testing options, as described below.
NOTE 2: This code must be enabled before entering Create-A-Sim mode.
NOTE 3: "Llamas" are the triangular warning signs that appears with some messages.
NOTE 4: You can delete objects that normally cannot be removed (for example, Sims, mailbox, garbage can). You cannot get those objects back. Also,when the code is used on a Sim with the "good" trait they will have a halo appear on their head when you exit Buy/Build mode.

Watch your own videos

To watch your own videos on the Sim television, place a .AVI format video with a resolution no larger than 128x128 and frame rate less than 15 fps in the "/My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 3/Movies/Broadcast/[television station]" directory. Turn on the television to watch it.

Easy money

To easily earn money, have your sim write novels on the computer. Fiction novels take the least amount of time, but will not bring you the most Simoleons. Romance novels will earn you the most Simoleons. After maxing out the "Writing" skill, you can make as much as 40,000 Simoleons every week.

Easy skills

To perform this trick, you will need a TV with the Cooking, Fishing, or Gardening channels and a video game system. Have one Sim watch TV on any of those channels to start earning skill points. Then, have a second Sim start playing video games on that TV. The first Sim will continue to earn skill points. Allow the Sim to sit their until they move on their own. The skill meter will continue to stay above their head. If you repeat the steps until the Cooking, Fishing, and Gardening channels have been viewed, the Sim will be learning three skills at once.

Baby genders

To increase your chances of having a boy, have a pregnant female Sim eat apples. To increase your chances of having a girl, have a pregnant female Sim eat watermelons.

Ghosts in your house

To get ghosts to come to your house, go to the graveyard and steal all the tombstones, then place them in your backyard.

Age faster

To quickly advance your Sim's age, buy a birthday cake at the grocery store, and place it somewhere in your lot. Click the cake, and select "Have Birthday". Then, choose the sim to advance in age.

Avoiding death

To avoid dying, go to Pleasant Rest Graveyard and harvest the flowers from the "Death Flower Bush" which is located near the gate. After you die, your Sim will give the flower to the Grim Reaper and become resurrected. This flower will not reappear there again. However, it is possible to grow the "Death Flower Bush" if your Sim has Level 7 Gardening by planting the "Unknown Special Seeds" found in the graveyard.

Brilliant paintings or masterpieces

To increase your chance of creating a brilliant painting or masterpiece, create a stylized still life after it is unlocked. Choose "Genius", and make it the largest possible frame.

Learn four skills at once

Read "Easy Cooking, Gardening, or Fishing Skill" by Tony Ortale and repeat Tony's steps until each skill channel has been viewed. The Sim will continue learning the three skills as he or she goes on about their daily life, and four when doing skill activities.

Free police car hint

After entering testingcheatsenabled true, when you click on the mailbox, it will say "set career". Select on law enforcement and become a spy to receive a police cruiser in your sims inventory. You can quit your job afterward.

Duck Time moodlet hint

Purchase the Ducksworth of Bathington and place it in your bathtub. When a Sim uses takes a bath, they will get the Duck Time moodlet, which results in a +15 boost for four hours.

Electronic Arts easter eggs

-Get the video game system and have your Sims play it. Zoom in on the television to see that the games they are playing are various Electronic Arts titles.

-Get a Sim reach the top painting level to have the ability to create masterpieces. One of the paintings that can be created is a creature from Spore.

Learn all guitar songs from books

Have your Sim reach Guitar skill level 5 and have a level 5 book in their inventory, click the guitar, then select "New Song" to learn it. After you reach Guitar skill level 6, do the same thing with a level 6 book. Repeat the process until the Sim reaches Guitar skill level 10 and they will know all songs that were taught.

Mysterious Mr. Gnome hint

If oneof you sim travels you happen to find a Mysterious Mr. Gnome, do not sell him! Apart from being a very valuable item, he has some entertaining qualities. When you go to sleep at, night he will move when you aren't watching. If you kick him and stand him up again he will change positions.

Ghost baby

To make a Ghost baby, set one of your female Sim's traits to Kleptomaniac. Go to the graveyard, and have the Sim steal male remains. A ghost will appear 11:00 P.M. and disappear at 4:00 A.M. on the second day after stealing the remains. It will continue to appear every other day. Socialize with the ghost every time it appears and become best friends with it. Get the "Fertility" award and confess your attraction to the ghost. Ask the ghost to snuggle on the bed, and kiss him. Try for a baby every night and you will eventually have a ghost baby.

New clothes

To get new clothes, you must first purchase a dresser from "Buy Options". Once there, click "Plan Outfit". You can put up to three different clothes for each type (formal, every day, athletic, etc.)

Cooking Skill glitch

Note: A TV with a cooking channel and a video game system are required. First, have one Sim sit down and watch TV. Switch the TV over to the cooking channel so that the Sim can start earning its skill point. Then, have a second Sim go over and play video games. You should now notice that although the TV is displaying video games, the first Sim still has the skill meter above its head! Just allow this Sim to sit there until it decides to go do another activity on its own. After that, the skill meter should stay above its head until you start another cooking skill activity. As an added bonus, you can train two skill points at once! i.e., Go work out and both the athletic and cooking skills will continue to rise. This also works with the Fishing Skill and the Gardening Skill, provided you have a TV with those capabilities.

Listening to your own music

To listen to your own music on the radio, place a .MP3 file in the "/My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 3/Music/[radio station]" directory. Start the game and go to "Options" > "Music Settings" and select a radio station. Select your song to be played on the radio.

When the "testingCheatsenabled true" code is enabled on the "Select Family" screen before loading a family, hold [Ctrl] and click just below the box in the lifetime happiness to add 500 to lifetime happiness. You can also drag the needs bars and the bars when viewing Sim's relationships up or down.

Also, hold [Ctrl] and click a Moodlet in the Moodlet panel to remove it.

Infinite Simoleons hint

To quickly earn over 4,000 Simoleons, purchase a desk and a chair for the desk and place it anywhere in your household. After calling the repairman a couple times he will bring a XS 4258p Laptop and place it on the desk. He will forget it is there when he leaves, as long as there is no other items on the desk when he arrives. Repeat this process to earn you between 2,400 and over 4,000 Simoleons, depending on how soon you sell it.
