Using a melee class with a weapon that has long reach, such as a stick, spear, or rapier, stand just outside the range of the generator's shock wave. Then, press X without initiating a combo to do the first attack of the combo faster. This can also be done with a thief and a throwing knife, as they can throw their knives, sickles, and spikes in quick succession from close range.
