The easiest and fastest way to make money is on Chapter 4-1. Play the level under the Amateur difficulty setting and collect all the treasures--which result in about 40,000 gold. There are seven treasures in part one of the level, ten in part two, and another ten including the Soul Gem worth 10,000 gold in part 3.
