Acquire God Mode:
Prior to double clicking on the Halo Icon, right click it and select properties; next, alter the target by adding -console, taking care not include that switch in the command line quotation marks.
Start Halo via this shortcut and pull up the console using the tilde key. Input god 1 for invincibility.
