Same Character:
Hold Down+C on controller 2 as you input 2 PLAYER mode with controller 1.
Shiva:
Defeat Shiva in the first level. When you get the last hit, push B+Start and hold it.
Roo:
Hold Up and B, then press Start at the title screen.
Ash:
Defeat Ash, then hold A on Controller 1. After perishing, select the continue option and you can select Ash as your character.
